The Walton Renaissance Senior Community, an independent living facility for 62+ income based adults, is located near the Wiser Wealth office on Henderson Street in downtown Marietta. The facility is set peacefully just off the Marietta Square where residents can walk or get weekly rides to nearby shopping and entertainment, but in our current environment, the setting has changed.

We have learned through a local organization that the COVID-19 lockdown has hit these residents especially hard. Common areas are closed and transportation is no longer provided to grocery stores. Residents are restricted to their rooms and many are running out of toilet paper, forcing residents to shower several times a day. Since Georgia extended the shelter in place for the elderly through mid-June, the residents now find themselves in need of food and other essential items.

The residents were receiving weekly donations from two local organizations; however, one has stopped due to COVID-19. I imagine that morale is very low amongst the residents, many who are recovering from surgery and are not mobile. I don’t believe these neighbors should be overlooked, so the Wiser Team is going to help and we are asking you to join us.

Items currently needed:

Fruit – Bananas, Apples, Oranges, Grapes Mac N Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Pasta
Tuna/Cracker snack packs Soups (Low Sodium)

*Residents have kitchenettes, thus cannot cook, but can heat items in the microwave.

We will be collecting these items to drop off on Friday May 8th. If you would like to participate, you can drop off non-perishable items at our office through Thursday, May 7th. If you are within a 10-mile radius of the office, you can call us at 678-905-4450 and we can coordinate a porch pick up of items on Thursday May 7th. If you would rather donate monetarily, you can make a cash donation towards our Costco run for the perishable items listed above.

I look forward to reporting happy faces at the Walton Renaissance Senior Community on May 8th.
