Frequently Asked Questions

The following are some common questions that we get asked when people research our firm.

What does a fee-only, fiduciary advisor mean?

A Fee-Only Registered Investment Advisor has a fiduciary responsibility to act in the best interest of their client. This means that we, as your advisor, have your best interest in mind and will not try to sell you any products. If it is better for you to liquidate half your account to pay off your house, then that is what we will recommend. Fee-only means that we tell you what are fees are upfront and there are no hidden costs. This means no surprises! We don’t hide fees by decreasing rate of return or selling products that are commissioned. This is described in more detail here.

What all does your Financial Plan cover?

We look at many different aspects of your financial situation to create a comprehensive financial plan to help achieve your financial goals. Your customized financial plan may include:

  • Retirement Planning
  • Tax Planning
  • Estate Planning
  • Insurance & Risk Management
  • Education Planning
  • Budgeting

Please visit our Financial Planning services page for more information.

How do you structure your fees?

Since we are fee-only, our fees are simple and transparent. It is calculated by a percentage of the assets that we manage for you. Our fees decrease as the value of your account increases – which is a shared benefit. Also, our fees are always negotiable. Additionally, we offer financial planning fees that we charge on a per hour basis if we are not managing any assets. We will go over our fee structure in your initial meeting with us.

Do you charge extra for Financial Planning?

If we are managing assets for you, then a comprehensive financial plan is included in your management fee. Otherwise, we bill for financial planning on an hourly basis for client’s outside of our firm.

Am I the right client for your firm?

Currently, we do not have a minimum account size. But, sometimes it will be in your best interest for us to offer financial planning vs. managing your assets. This will be determined at your initial meeting with us. Feel free and call us to discuss your situation in more detail to figure out which route is best for you.

What Custodian do you use to hold my assets?

We use TD Ameritrade Institutional as our custodian for all of our client’s assets. For years, TD Ameritrade has been known for it’s industry-leading service, advanced trading tools and extensive resources that help some of the best brokerage firms around the world.
