Should I Hire a Financial Advisor or DIY?

A lot of people wonder whether they should hire a financial advisor or if they should just DIY it. Typically, you hire a financial advisor because you want someone who will look at your overall financial plan or help you build this plan. Your financial planner can also monitor the plan to make sure you’re staying on track. A financial advisor should be able to help you do comprehensive financial planning that compliments your portfolio management.

If you are trying to start planning for retirement, a financial advisor is important because they can help you stay on track and keep you accountable. For younger people, you may not need to have an actual planner yet, but it may be a good idea to have someone look at your allocation overall.
